say my character is holding a sword in right hand.

Can i use the sword as an interaction object? so i animate the sword to swing, and the rig follows?

or is this a silly idea.

or maybe its better to just animate the hand effector

Hey,

It's all the same actually. With the IS, the effector will be locked to the InteractionObject, so doesn't really matter if you animate the iinteraction object or the effector directly. I'd keep it simple though and just animate the effector.
